A DRUGS-ON-FILM FESTIVAL

...at Husets Biograf, Magstræde 14 / Tel: 33324077. For the first time in Denmark, all three Pusher films will be shown together in sequence. In addition to this are weekend screenings of classic American exploitation (drug) films that touch upon genres such as the 30?s Drug Scare melodrama, Blaxploitation and the punk underground films of Jon Moritsugu. From the mean streets of Copenhagen to the psychedelic nightclubs of 60?s Los Angeles to the mysterious subterranean tunnels of San Francisco?s Chinatown, drug cinema is ticket to the outermost reaches of human imagination. These films combine brutal reality with psychedelic special effects and soundtracks that veer from driving 60?s rock to experimental noise-scapes. You?ll never be the same again.

- WEEKEND AFTERNOONS (AS BELOW) AT 12:20 and 14:30: A cavalcade of classic American drug films (all 12 screenings of the retro-section (only) for just a 150-Dkk festival pass)(Single afternoon tickets are 50 kr. which gets you into 2 films)

THE CALVALCADE is programmed by hereboende American film writer and author of Addicted: the Myth & Menace of Drugs in Film, Jack Stevenson who will personally introduce his collection of his historic drug scare shorts at 12:30 on 14:05. ?... en af verdens fremmeste formidlere af kultfilm.? says Kim Foss in reference to Stevenson?s book Addicted which Berlingske Tidende voted one of the top 5 film books of 2000; ?en guldgrube of herlig filmhistorie fra skyggesiden.? (This festival is partially inspired by the 2006 Rotterdam film festival which invited both Refn and Stevenson down to present films at their ?White Light? drug cinema sidebar, with Refn presenting the complete pusher trilogy and Stevenson showing his compilation of shorts.)
