Żuławski's "Third Part Of The Night" var fantastisk, ond, grusom og paranoid. En bedre film end hans "Possession" som jeg ellers holder meget af. Igår så jeg:

Second Run fortsætter med endnu en øst-europærisk perle, Jerzy Kawalerowicz's "Mother Joan Of The Angels" fra 1961, som kickstartede polsk nybølge i 60erne. Det gotiske arthouse drama bygger på den faktiske historie om nonner der blev 'besat' af djævlen i et kloster i Loudun, Frankrig, i 1630 hvor den kætteriske præst Grandier bl.a. blev brændt på bålet. Ken Russell's "The Devils" (1971) er næsten et remake af "Mother Joan Of The Angels", som er en mindre hysterisk i f.h.t. Russell men ikke en mindre skræmmende historie om religiøst vanvid blandet med ekspressionistisk uhygge. Lucyna Winnicka og Mieczyslaw Voit som nonnen og præsten leverer overjordisk ikonisk skuespil. "Mother Joan Of The Angels" er en milepæl i europærisk film. Fransk nybølge ala Godard, samt Dreyer og Bergman kan kysse min bare - 60ernes polske og tjekkiske film is da shit!
